Rock/Rough Buns


  • Muffin/Cupcake Pan


  • 3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 5 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 Cup Milk (Whole Milk/Cereal Milk or Evaporated Milk)
  • ¾ Cup Butter
  • ½ Cup Granulated Sugar
  • ½ tsp Nutmeg
  • ½ tsp Salt


  • Grease baking pan and dust lightly with flour then set aside
  • Position rack in the center and preheat oven to 350ºF/177ºC/Gas Mark 4
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, butter, nutmeg, salt, and baking powder until you get a rough-like texture
  • In a separate bowl, mix the milk and egg lightly
  • Pour the milk and egg mixture in the large bowl with dry ingredients until well combined
  • Using your hand or a spoon, place equal amounts in the cupcake/muffin pan
  • Whisk the last egg and bask the dough lightly in order to get the golden brown color
  • Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until done
  • Leave to cool in pans for about 10-15 minutes then remove
  • Serve with hot chocolate, ice cream, or Malt
  • If you would like a more smooth texture, sprinkle a surface with flour and knead the dough LIGHTLY
